April and May 2014

24 March 2014 – (Newsletter for April and May, 2014)

Dear Friends and Partners,

It is with great joy that we write this letter to you.  We have watched God do marvelous things and we must say that His faithfulness is beyond all comprehension.  He took us, all of us, when we were not a people and made of us the people of God.  He took us, when we were “aliens,” “…strangers and foreigners…” and made us “…members of the household of God” (Ephesians 2:12,19)

You may have just read the preceding words and wonder why we are so excited.  Well, let Eugene tell you.  On the recent trip that Pastor Chris Holland and I took to the Ivory Coast, God saved our lives.  On the 24th of February, we were planning to drive four and one-half hours into the heart of the country.  When I awoke that morning, God spoke a word to me, “If you go, you will not return.”  I walked across the hall in the hotel and knocked on Chris’s door.  When the door opened, Chris said that God had given him a vision of the two of us in a car disappearing into a “dark hole” and not returning.  Needless to say, we took the warnings from God and cancelled the trip.  God also spoke to a brother in the U.S. and a couple in Canada who prayed that we would not go.  God is so good.

One reason that I am sharing this with you is that we want to encourage you to be sensitive to the voice of the Spirit of God.  Isaiah wrote the promise of God with these words, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left” (Isaiah 30:21 NKJV).  He also wrote, “…He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to hear as the learned” (Isaiah 50:4 NKJV).  We remember the testimony of a Christian woman who was to board a plane to fly to Los Angeles for a speaking engagement.  Just before boarding the plane in Chicago, God spoke to her to book a later flight.  The first flight crashed on take off with no survivors.  When she arrived in L. A. she shared that she was scheduled to be on the plane but God had spoken to her to change flights.  Someone said to her, “Do you think you are the only one that God loved enough to speak to about that flight?”  She replied, “No, but I was the only one who listened.”  Let us all have a “listening ear.”

You will notice from the calendar on the next page that this letter is for the months of April and May.  We ask that you be in prayer for us as we go to England and France.  As you can see, our schedule is full, especially for April, and we need the fortitude of God.

We also would like to ask you that if you are receiving this letter by regular mail and have an e-mail address that you would send us you e-mail address.  We are attempting to save finances by sending as many letters as we can by e-mail.  Your help with this matter is greatly appreciated.

As we bring this letter to a close, we want to thank each of you for your love and for you standing in faith with us.  God has blessed us extremely and we know that it is because you have partnered with us in faith.  It is true that when you pray for us, we feel the power of God helping us step by step.  Again we say, “Thank you.”  We also want you to know that each of you is in our hearts and our prayers are with you.

In Jesus,

Eugene & Sherry
