Dear Friends and Partners,
Sherry and I greet you in the wonderful name of Jesus. God has been so good to us and has blessed us “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us…” (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV). That power is the power of the Holy Spirit at work in us. It is also our hope and desire that our Lord is doing the same thing in each of you.
During the past several weeks, the Holy Spirit has been dealing with me about “INTIMACY WITH GOD.” There is another word that we use for INTIMACY and that is FELLOWSHIP. John wrote concerning FELLOWSHIP by saying, “That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3 NKJV). The goal of our fellowship is to have an intimate relationship with the Father through our relationship with Jesus, the Son.
My question has become, “How may I have the kind of INTIMACY with God which will take me into a deep relationship with the Father?” One of the keys that I have found for myself is to spend time with Him. I have discovered that “Time is Life.” What do I mean by this statement? I mean simply that as I spend time with God (in the Word, in prayer, in praise and in worship), I am giving Him my life. If I spend one hour with Him, I have given Him one hour of my life. It is an hour that I will never be able to use for anything else, nor should I want to.
There was a time is Jesus’ ministry when He went to pray and He took Peter, James and John along with Him. He asked them to stop and wait for Him. When He returned, He found them asleep and He awoke them and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?” (Matthew 26:40 NKJV). They missed the opportunity to share in the Fellowship that Jesus had with the Father. I wonder how often it is that I fail to take the opportunities that God has given me to have fellowship with Him. For me, Fellowship with God is one of the goals of life. I have come to this place in life that I don’t want to miss another opportunity to give Him the time of my life.
You will notice that over these next two months we plan to be in both Canada and the United States. You will also notice that we plan to be at home for several weeks each month as we try to slow our pace in the future. One of our greatest joys is to see you blessed as God has blessed us. As I have been writing this letter, I have been reminded of the Apostle Paul’s attitude when he wrote: “For what thanks can we render to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sake before our God…” (1 Thessalonians 3:9 NKJV). He could not think of anything greater than the joy that he possessed because of the people of God.
Please know that each of you is loved and that we desire to be with you as much as possible. We also know that God is working mightily in each of you and that the light of His presence is shining through you; therefore, we challenge you to be lights in this world.
