Dear Friends and Partners,
It is with great joy that we write this letter. As we approach the Christmas season and the end of the year, we remember the birth of our Savior. The words of the Prophet Isaiah still ring clear,
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6&7 NKJV)
Truly, Jesus was and is the Son of God and He is in control of the affairs of this world. The revelation of Him as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords,” as well as the extent of His “government” is not known to all, but that does not change the truth of who He was and is. The Psalmist wrote, “The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed…Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion.” (Psalm 2:2&6 NKJV)
We often say concerning the victory that Jesus gave us (the citizens of the Kingdom), “We have read the last chapter of the Book and our side wins.” God is on the throne and all of us who have received Jesus as Savior are on the throne with Him. The apostle Paul, writing to the church at Ephesus, wrote,
“But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…” (Ephesians 2:4-6 NKJV)
Of course, we know that the apostle Paul was writing about our spiritual position because our physical position is fixed firmly on the earth. However, it is important for us to realize that, because of what God did through Jesus, we are in the place of victory. Just as Satan has no victory over Jesus Christ, he has no victory over us.
Writing about our victory in Jesus has reminded us to ask that you pray for God’s guidance and protection for Eugene over the next few weeks. He will be in Colombia for over one month beginning the 16th of November. You will see the details of the next two months in the calendar found attached to this letter.
It is our prayer for you that you and your families have blessed Christmas season and a prosperous New Year. 2014 is almost upon us and we know that God has great things in store for you in the coming year.
